According to a breaking news release from ESPN Soccernet, Neymar has expressed an interest in joining Real Madrid. The response by Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro was to express hope that Neymar remains at Santos until the club's centenary celebrations in 2012.
Oliveira Ribeiro talked about the release clause in Neymar's contract which is valued at €45 million or $65 million in US currency. Oliveira Ribeiro has advised clubs interested in Neymar to defer from talking with him or his father.
Muricy Ramalho (coach for Santos) commented that the signing of Neymar by Real Madrid would be a "mistake" on the part of the player. Ramalho gave as his reasons that Neymar tends to be "unpredictable" while Mourinho tends to be "tactics based."
Ramalho went further to define "tactics based" as not giving opponents enough space to play. It remains to be seen how Neymar will fit in the plans of Mourinho.
